The Converse ‘Made by You’ campaign was held in 2015 and was the 100 year anniversary of the Chuck Taylor All Stars and is all about: ‘a celebration of the individual experiences and self-expression shown through one’s Chucks’. The showcased more than 200 worn and personalised Chuck’s created many different people including famous artists.
I have taken a lot inspiration for my project from this campaign. Originally I was going to have the same sort of concept for my work except it would’ve been, ‘a celebration of the individual experiences and self-expression shown through one’s shoes’, but I felt this was very broad and lacked depth.
This is where I came up with the concept of ‘visualising the positive memories, personal journeys and sentiment that we hold within the unintentional wear and tear on our shoes’. I feel like this is more in depth as it has three key concepts for me to explore and develop my own ideas about what these concepts mean to me.
I am also going to take a lot of inspiration for my posters from this campaign as I think they are very clean and sharp looking which is what i want my posters to be and it is also how I imagine them.
